Puddlegear Reviews
Katy Farber At Eco Childs Play

Katy Farber At Eco Childs Play
I was happy when I got an email about PVC free raingear for kids. So much of the raingear available is made from thick PVC, and you can smell it. Gortex is made from the chemicals used in Teflon. So what’s a green parent to do? PVC (also known as vinyl) is also known as the poison plastic, and is bad for the environment and for our kids. PVC often carries lead (such as in some baby bibs), and uses a number of troublesome chemicals called phthalates to make the plastic soft. These phthalates are endocrine disruptors which have been linked to problems in the development of the male reproductive system and the brain development of infants. Here is a link about the enviornmental problems that begin with the manufacturing of PVC. Thankfully, there are other options. Puddlegear has a new line of raingear that is PVC and phthalate free. According to Puddlegear, “All of Puddlegear’s raingear is made of Atec, a Polyurethane-coated stretch fabric, is environmentally-friendly and PVC and Phthalate free. The gear is imported from Swedish manufacturer of 60 years – Abeko. The raingear is also wind and waterproof, tear resistant and machine washable. Best of all, Atec is soft and flexible, so kids do not feel restricted while splashing in water and mud puddles.” We don’t have rain jackets for the kids for the very reason that I could never bring myself to knowingly buy anything made from PVC. We just wear winter or wind jackets, and get wet. Maybe we will try to purchase a Puddlegear jacket in the future. It’s nice to know we do finally have an option.

Shipping

Puddlegear ships within 24 hours when possible. Orders received after 12-noon Fridays will be sent Monday morning - unless a I make it to the post office! I do try as Fridays are the best day to ship - as long as packages are in the system they move on weekends they just don't receive new shipments on weekends.

We ship with Canada Post all packages are Expedited with appropriate insurance to the value of your package. We try to charge what Canada Post charges - If you require your gear anytime faster - please purchase Express Shipping. Canada Post quotes approximately 12 days to the USA, 16 Days to Alaska, and 10 days across Canada. These approximates are purely that - we can't quote for another company. We do find Canada Post to be reliable.

Puddlegear can't take responsibility for the loss of packages. We do track our packages and if you have not received your Puddlegear in 12 - 18 days we can start procedures to track down what has happened. We are as anxious as you for your gear to arrive safely. We can't replace the shipment unless Canada post deems it "lost" and refunds us. (we do not experience many lost packages - and getting a refund from Canada Post has not posed any issue for us yet) We can only offer else's apologies for someone else's mistakes we can not take responsibility for them. We do our best to get packages to you as quickly as possible.

If your package is a gift with a time sensitive date please let us know and we can talk about "Guaranteed Delivery" like Express Post.

Warranty
Puddlegear and Abeko stand behind the manufacture of their raingear. We offer a one year guarantee of Manufactures defects. This covers snaps, seals, and seams.

If seams split, heat seals are not holding or pops come off we will when reasonable replace the item. Puddlegear will pay the shipping to get the new product to the customer but we require the customer to first return the item that is being returned.

Please read the washing instructions. Dryers are not recommended. This is because of the elastics and the heat on the Polyurethane.

Replacement cannot happen when items are mouldy due to improper drying, elastics have been cooked in the dryer, snags due to playing hazards like branches. We receive calls very infrequently regarding these events. In the event of a snag- Puddlegear can provide a patch kit made of Polyurethane that is invisible. The product is called "Tear Aid" and is like a band aid for raingear. Mitts that have been nipped by small teeth are not covered under the warranty but we would be happy to provide you with a patch.

Puddlegear Raingear by Abeko is tear resistant. We do not get many complaints of torn gear and if we do it its usually that the gear has snagged on something of sliced on something while a child is playing. We would be happy to send you a patch to get your child back out playing.

Tear Aid is a great product we sourced out to alleviate using two part glues. For instructions Click Here. The product can also be purchased here.

Puddlegear can not be responsible for Abeko products purchased elsewhere. Like in Europe. Please follow up the the retailer you purchased your gear from. We can't warranty products we don't sell.

Now go out and play.
